A unique experience
for your class

Young children are naturally curious and eager to explore everything around them – and there is no better place for them to explore, play and learn than outside in the natural environment.

Wild Learning run bespoke sessions for nursery-age children with activities tailored to their age and ability.

We provide a structured and supportive environment that enables children to spend time outside developing their understanding, appreciation and respect of the world, the environment and themselves, using their senses, emotions and imagination.

We just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to you and your lovely leaders for a WONDERFUL four weeks of forest school. It has been such a valuable experience for our boys who don’t get an opportunity to interact much with nature at school. All your staff were brilliant and made our mornings fun and exciting. I can’t express what a brilliant experience it was!

They love it and always have a great time whatever the weather. They love the freedom, adventure and chance to get dirty. They always come home buzzing (and in need of a bath!) They love the staff and being outdoors all day.

Just some of the things we might get up to:

Minibeasts • Animal habitats •Tracking and trailing • Pond life • Plants, leaves and trees • Seasonal changes • Foraging • Camouflage • Treasure hunts • 3D maps • Shelter building • Natural art and craft • Story stones • Dreamcatchers • Folk tales • Storytelling • Understanding the natural environment • Rubbish and recycling.

Why take your class into the woods?

Engaging children with the natural environment stimulates the senses, emotions and imagination. It develops confidence, resilience and independence.

But too few children today regularly play outside – they are not given the opportunity, whether due to lack of parental time, or curriculum restrictions, or a risk-averse mindset.

Amanda Spielman, the head of Ofsted, said nurseries and childminders must not shy away from taking youngsters on trips to the park or engaging in outdoor activities due to fears about health and safety. She said she was concerned about the creation of ‘overly risk-free environments’ and that young children need to be able to discover the world and ‘run around until they are exhausted’. You have given my daughter Sophie three amazing days that she will treasure

Even Ofsted recognises the benefits:

First-hand experiences of learning outside the classroom can help to make subjects more vivid and interesting for pupils and enhance their understanding. It can also contribute significantly to pupils’ personal, social and emotional development

Why use Wild Learning?

Research from around the world shows that regular time spent outdoors has significant positive benefits to mental health (reducing stress and anxiety, enhancing self-esteem); physical health (bone and muscle strength, flexibility, maintaining a healthy weight); and to personal behaviour (concentration, creativity, learning ability, teamwork and social skills).

Experienced and qualified professionals:

Wild Learning only use qualified professionals (Forest School Level 3 or equivalent) to lead our school activity days. Our leaders also have enhanced DBS certification and REC2 Specialist Outdoor First Aid qualification. They are all experienced in leading groups of children in the outdoor environment and make sure all children participate, are engaged and are having fun.

We have spent years working with teachers to develop sessions for school groups, as well as running adventure programmes for children in school holidays, welcoming over 8,000 children a year.

Robust risk assessment,

We carry out regular risk assessments of every site, as well as conducting a daily risk assessment of the site before every session we run. We have comprehensive policies and procedures in place that include Risk Assessment, Health and Safety, Confidentiality, Child Protection and Safeguarding.
