Roles with Wild Learning
We employ freelance staff as Leaders and Assistants. Each session will have a Leader and at least one (though often more) Assistant.
Leaders
The Leader’s role is to run the day, taking the register, planning and managing the other staff to deliver the day’s activities, and liaising with parents and staff.
Leaders must have:
- a Forest School Level 3 qualification, or equivalent qualifications or experience*
- a current outdoor First Aid qualification
- a full, clear enhanced DBS check less than 3 years old (and be on the annual update service).
Before graduating to a Leader role, we expect people to work as Assistants for a period of time.
*we accept Mountain Leader (ML) and some Bushcraft qualifications.
Assistants
The Assistant’s role is to help the Leader run the day, look after the children and facilitate activities under the direction of the Leader.
Assistants do not require formal Forest School qualifications, but they must have:
- a full, clear enhanced DBS check less than 3 years old (and be on the annual update service);
- a current outdoor First Aid qualification; and
- (ideally) experience of working with children outdoors.
What is most important is your attitude to children together with an enthusiasm for working in the woods and the ability to work in a team environment.
