Making things, out of stuff we find around us, and out of our imaginations, takes up a lot of our time. Learning the skills to make an object, whether it’s a woodland crown, jewellery, musical instruments, a swing or a den, construction is about more than developing a particular craft.
Practising foraging for materials, making critical evaluations, using imagination and estimation skills, negotiating with other teams (for the best den building spot, for example) and communicating what we need – well, what do you think?.
